    Not every problem requires a large consulting engagement. If a focused analysis, independent review, or facilitated session is the better approach, we will recommend that instead.

  2. Current-State Review

    Where appropriate, we also speak with engineering managers, technical leads, engineers, and the cross-functional teams that interact with the process.

    The objective is to understand both how the process is documented and how engineering work actually happens.

  3. Findings and Priorities

    Findings are separated into practical priorities so the organization can focus on the changes that provide the greatest engineering value.

  4. Implementation

    Depending on the engagement, implementation may include process development, facilitated engineering activities, revised design reviews, risk workflows, training, mentoring, or other targeted improvements.

    Where possible, changes are implemented against active programs so the approach can be tested and refined in real engineering work.

It can be either or both. Formal training is available, but many engagements combine process development, facilitation, mentoring, and practical training while working on real engineering challenges.

The objective is to help your team develop the capability to sustain the approach after the engagement ends.

How long does an engagement take?

It depends on the scope. A focused process review or improvement effort may take several weeks, while broader organizational or product development improvements may be implemented over several months.

Where possible, larger engagements are phased around real program needs and milestones so improvements can be applied and evaluated as the work progresses.

Do you work with engineering managers as well as engineers?

Will you require us to adopt Fortitron's processes?

How do we know whether the problem is our process or something else?

That is one of the purposes of the initial assessment. Engineering outcomes can be influenced by many factors, including technical complexity, requirements, resources, organizational structure, processes, communication, tools, skills, and program constraints.

We examine the available evidence and how engineering work is actually being performed before recommending a solution. If the problem does not require a broader process engagement, we will say so.

Do you take interim engineering leadership roles?

Fortitron's primary role is to provide independent engineering consulting, facilitation, assessment, and mentoring rather than fill permanent line-management positions.

This allows us to maintain the independent perspective that is often valuable when reviewing engineering processes and technical decisions. Specific leadership-support needs can be discussed during the initial scoping call.

Can you review just one part of our product development process?
